Provenance

[edit]

Provenance in question. Shajh Jahan? (5 January 1592 – 22 January 1666) is shown holding court from atop, a jewel-encrusted jharoka, or throne, covered by a baldachin and topped with an embroidered canopy; the jharoka is a copy of the famous Peacock Throne looted by the Iranians under the Afsharid ruler Nadir Shah (r. 1736-47 CE) in 1738-39 CE. So this picture needs investigating. Pretty much, all of the columbia.edu high quality images we have, are actually lifted from the British Libtrary website. I know of no exceptions to that, and I've seen the majority, if not all of them. The rest come fom ebay in the main. Broichmore (talk) 19:11, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
