If there were years and months, it will be more informative. 81.197.3.89 16:33, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Italy became an ally of Germay in 1940 not in 1939. 62.179.33.77 16:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expand to cover North Africa and Middle East?

[edit]

Could the GIFs be expanded to cover the North Africa campaigns and the Middle East, too, and the oil fields of that time which were important targets for Germany? The Wehrmacht taking Suez canal and Palestine to join with German forces in the Caucasus was a possibility for some time at least. Vichy France and Britain were present in Middle East, Luftwaffe was involved in Iraq. Matthead 01:02, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yugoslavia

[edit]

The animation is not accurate. Much of Yugoslavia was battle field, so it can not be presented simple as dark blue. And Yugoslav partisans fought on the Allied side, so why white color after 1944? --BokicaK 10:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slider

A slider could help to "search" in the map for specific data.

Winter War

[edit]

The Winter War between the Soviets and Finns is not shown.
It is difficult to see, but Lithuania gets a bit of Poland in 1939. Is that indicated, or is it just too much trouble?
Very cool and informative animation in general. Thanks, Varlaam (talk) 21:58, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think, it is needed another one colour for Finland from beginning of the war (30 nov 1939) until june 1941 (Finland in war wis USSR) or until december 1941 (UK in war with Finland).--SEA99 (talk) 04:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracies

[edit]

1) Italy is marked as Axis member from beginning, actually it was neutral until June 1940.
2) Vichy France is colored same as Axis members, actually it was officially neutral, and despite collaborating with Axis it did not declare war on Allies. Depicting whole French North Africa as Axis controlled territory is not really an accurate representation of situation.
3) Defeated Axis members Romania, Bulgaria and Finland joined Allied side and participated actively in combat, so they should not be marked as neutrals.
4) Liberated Allied members Belgium and Yugoslavia should not be marked as neutrals.
5) Finland joined war on Axis side in June 1941, not in May.
5) Norwegian campaign is overly simplistic. In end of April 1940 German presence north of Namsos was limited to Narvik and Allies still had presence in Åndalsnes. Areas north of Narvik were not occupied before June.--Staberinde (talk) 17:17, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
6) Iceland was occupied by British in 1940 May, not April.--Staberinde (talk) 15:19, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
