Is it really Paris ?
[edit]I do not recognize monuments, nor statues, nor the wall and the river. Is it really Paris ?
This image with borders is used in two articles. Another one "noborders" seems not to be used. --Civa (talk) 16:21, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Not Paris
[edit]Although the text of the chronicle, this engraving is not a picture of Paris :
- We cant see any construction built at that time in Paris. Such as cathedral Notre-Dame very high and recognizable
- We see unknown buildings and monuments, such as this huge statue at the top of a column
- The ship is more larger than the ship that can sail up to Paris on the (rather small) river Seine
In fact, the author used some engravings for several distinct towns.
This so-named image of Paris is an image of Magdeburg in Deutschland. And has also been used for the town of Tarvisio (not Treviso) in Italy. Which is a town among the mountains Alps, without large river !
The author used also other unique image for several towns :
-
Image said to be Nicea (now Iznik in Turkey)
-
Image said to be Metz
-
Image said to be Marseille
-
Image said to be Lithuania (!)
-
Unknown
I think it should be necessary to removed the categories of these wrong towns. But I did it only for Paris and Tarvisio. The image for Paris is in the portal and in the value images of Paris !--Tangopaso 19:25, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
