I question the identity of this photo as Salix pentandra (Bay Willow)

1. Leaves are significantly smaller than is typical. 2. Growth habit of S.p is generally more upright with much larger internodal differences. 3. Twig colour on S.p. is generally an advocodo green.

This may be due to marginal growth conditions.

This is genuine Bay Willow growing at a native locality, and fully typical of the species; yes, growing conditions are somewhat marginal here (upland site). - MPF (talk) 17:46, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
