What an odd sensation. I shot this picture of the SB2C hitting the barrier on the USS Kearsarge. I was an AF3 (Aviation Photographer) at the time with Air Group 3. Commander Badger was skipper and James L. Holloway III was executive officer. I still have the originals (this photo is one of a sequence showing the crash). I have forgotten the name of the pilot and the crewman, but they were both unhurt. The photo was shot with a Fairchild K 20, using roll film of Super XX. About a year after I had shot this photo, I went back aboard the Kearsarge and looked through the files at many of the photos I had taken. They were mounted on a heavy cardboard with pertinent information and with credit to the photographer. On all of the more spectacular photos I noted that the ship's company Chief had scratched through my name and credited himself. The man was Chief Lovejoy, and I had never seen the man with a camera in his hands.
