Note

[edit]

This photo appeared as a censored drawing in the French magazine "Numero" from 1904, accompanying an article with the headline "Les Nouveaux Massacres d'Armenie". The article details an August 1904 incident in which some Armenian Fedayi from Oltu who had crossed into Turkish-held territory had encountered Ottoman troops, during which the Armenians were massacred and their bodies "despoiled". The Russian soldiers depicted had recovered the bodies. So it is not an Armenian genocide photo at all. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 20:19, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The photo is from the French magazine Pro Armenia, 15/09/1904. This incident was also reported in the US press: [1]. --Grandmaster 10:49, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
