Chaplin Jones assistant

[edit]

Re Elsa Megson, mentioned here as being an assistant to a photographer Chaplin Jones, after the second world war: if it was the same Jones taking photos in 1885, that would make him c 70-80 after the war. Not impossible to be still active then (and more likely to need an assistant), but it's just as likely (given that we know a firm of Jones & Son was involved) that it was a son of the same name. In any case, given the strong evidence that the photo was unpublished until recently, it's moot. Rd232 (talk) 09:02, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What is your source for him taking photos in 1885? The only mention of 1885 I saw in the DR was Ottava guestimating that he would need to be at least 20 years old by 1905... so the 1885 was a speculative birth date. --99of9 (talk) 13:43, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A photo in Kingston Museum, dated 1885, ascribed to "Chaplin Jones". Found here. Rd232 (talk) 16:54, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cripes, at this rate he must have lived longer than Albus Dumbledore. -- (talk) 17:42, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
...which doesn't matter if the photo was unpublished, as the expert attested. Rd232 (talk) 17:52, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
