The Pirate is generally dated 1902 which seems correct as the Pirate is a stripped-down Curved Dash, and this car was introduced in 1901. The mentioned race at Ormond (Beach) was held in April, 1902, and timing was not officially (by AAA) approved. That followed in March, 1903, when Oldsmobile engineer Horace T. Thomas drove the Pirate to a record speed of 54.38 mph (Gasoline-powered 1,000-pound class).--Chief tin cloud (talk) 11:12, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
