Hồng Hưu?

[edit]

The sources captioned this image as "Gia Hưng Vương Hồng Hưu", which I think is probably unreliable.

Firstly, the image is more like an old photograph than a painting, and it is unlikely that King Gia Hưng, who was punished during his lifetime and later died in 1885 in Quang Tri, would have had such a photograph.

Secondly, comparing other photographs, such as the portrait photograph of Nguyễn Phúc Ưng Huy (阮福膺䘗) in the article published by Bulletin des Amis du Vieux Hué in 1928, I guess that this photograph could be him. Born in 1866 and died in 1927, Ưng Huy was titled "Gia Hưng Quận Công" as the son of Hồng Hưu.

More information, such as the original source of this image, is needed, in my opinion, to determine who is the man in the photo and the context of the photo. 源義信 (talk) 13:15, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
