Name and painter

[edit]

The [1] description on the national trust page doesn't say anything about Mahidevran or Bassano (who couldn't have painted a 1700 painting). If this was a copy of a painting from Bassano, it would probably be mentionned, not simply "Italian school".--Phso2 (talk) 17:40, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

*It's true but currently panting is not online National Trust Collections! Previously, the following statements were taking place on the description: Portrait of a Sultana probably Sultana of Rosne Pranvere, wife of Suleiman the Magnificent Rosne Pranvere is Albanian name of Mahidevran Sultan known by Europe. -- Maurice07 (talk) 11:55, 19 January 2013
Can you show a reference. The topic is important. Her grand-grandchildren ˑclaim a Caucasus ancestry. But this painting belongs to an Albanian. I wrote to "BBC your paintings" and they replied that they don't have any information on this painting. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 15:32, 19 January 2014 (UTC
Nedim Ardoğa, The "BBC your Paintings" is not owner of the painting. The institution is National Trust [2] Her grandchildren? It's their claim or theory. I've uploaded this painting based on the information on the National Trust, previously. Mahidevran Arnavut ya da Kafkas kökenli mi onu bilemem fakat bu portre zaten kesin olmadığı (probably/büyük olasılıkla) belirtilmişti açıklama kısmında. If you want, you can send mail on this topic Mr. Ardoğa Maurice07 (talk) 17:02, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the description has changed, but 1)We have no proof of this change 2)If there was a change, there might be a reason for it (correction of a previous mistake?). So there is no reason to describe this painting as a portrait of Mahidevan by Bassano when the description says it is a portrait of an unknown person by an unknown painter.--Phso2 (talk) 19:37, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ːWell this is an encyclopedia. We are tasked to show the facts. Of course we can also show the unproven claims. But in this case we should state clearly that the issue is not settled. (That's what I've done on 13 January in the WP article, which was however reverted.) So please either show a reliable reference or else change the title of the image. Thanks.
