Speedy deletion nomination

[edit]

Comment I'm not sure how FoP is relevant in this case, the building has actually got to be copyrighted to be a copyright violation. The Leaning Tower of Pisa dates from the 12 century, long before copyright laws existed, and even if they did the architect is long dead by now. CT Cooper · talk 20:53, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Its the same for several countries... But the law is not changed so it need to be followed..--Common-Man | My Interactions 20:55, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Comment But surely the copyright was with the architect, and like any other piece of work it enters the public domain a set period of time has past since the author died, there are variations in different countries, though I'm not aware of any cases longer than 100 years after the author's death. The FoP page section on Italy mentions Cultural heritage as an issue as well, though I'm not familiar with it. If the tower is copyrighted in any case a lot of images need looking at, which is probably best dealt with by a mass deletion request nomination, not piecemeal speedy deletion.  Delete - Let the Admins do the mass deletion...Since the law has not changed this image need to be deleted. If there is any change of law It may came back--Common-Man | My Interactions 21:52, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Comment For reasons I have said above, the law as it stands now means this image should not be deleted because the copyright (if it ever existed) has long long expired. In the European Union, including Italy, copyright expires 70 years after the author's (architect's) death, which must be long dead for a building from the 12th century! See Template:Pd-old.  Comment - Statement in commons is still making a confusion to me Commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Italy, As PISA Tower will be under copyright as it is a cultural heritage under the government, As you said he copyright will expire after 70 years or after architects death...will be for normal buildings which does not came into the list of state owned cultural heritage's...--Common-Man | My Interactions 15:57, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - I don't know enough about cultural heritage in Italian law to be able to say if the Tower of Pisa would be included, an expert in this area would need to be asked to given their view on this. Given the amount of images involved and the complexity of the issue, it will require significant discussion before deletions would be appropriate. CT Cooper · talk 16:38, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
