@Dendrofil and Rudolphous: Hello. Rudolphous, the underneath of this distinctive mushroom does not look at all like a Cortinarius - for instance you never get decurrent gills in that genus and the shape is wrong. The stem looks like that of Xerocomellus chrysenteron.

I think it must be Phylloporus pelletieri, which has often been called Phylloporus rhodoxanthus in Europe, but apparently that is wrong (having another meaning). Looking at different pictures, this seems a very variable fungus - the cap colour is sometimes much lighter and according to Eyssartier the gills may either be adnate or decurrent. Some of the pictures in MycoDB look similar to the photo, as do File:Aranysargalemezes.jpg, File:Eichhof 06.08.2017 Golden-gilled Bolete - Phylloporus pelletieri (36535256473).jpg and File:Stamp of Moldova 042.jpg. The gills are supposed to be anastomosing, but I expect that that is variable as well.

It is a nice picture. Best wishes, Strobilomyces (talk) 21:51, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
