The photo clearly depicts Periophthalmus gracilis Eggert, 1935. Diagnostic traits [found in P. gracilis and not in P. novemradiatus (Hamilton, 1822)] are: iridescent whitish vertical stripes on flanks, interdorsal gap larger than the base of the first dorsal fin. Traits found in P. novemradiatus, and not in P. gracilis: black speckles smaller than scales on flanks, reddish crescent-shaped blotch on pectoral fins, first dorsal fin overlapping to second dorsal fin when adpressed, with elongated first spines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Polgy1 (talk • contribs) 07:26, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
