Provenance

The file overleaf was categorized as a Fossil of Bavaria as well as under the category Reisbach, which was created for pictures of the Bavarian town of Reisbach. This town, however lies within the Cenozoic North Alpine Molasse Basin (German: Molassebecken) beneath which strata of Carboniferous age are deeply buried. Hence, the name “Reisbach” probably refers to Reisbach in the Saar area where indeed Upper Carboniferous and Lower Permian strata form the surficial geology (cf. Saar-Nahe Basin).
