Incorrect depiction of Kashmir as part of Pakistan

[edit]
A more balanced view you maybe like better (click on it to see the hatch marks - wiki should be able to display the hatchings in an infobox)
A map that tends to side with the Indian (legal) opinion

This map shows Kashmir (except China occupied Kashmir) entirely as part of Pakistan. This is entirely incorrect. Kashmir is considered as a sovereign part of India (which it was during the formation of India and Pakistan). Later Pakistan attacked India twice and occupied a part of Kashmir as a result of the invasion. Currently that part is recognised by the international community as PoK and is at the least a disputed territory. Please update! Pareshbh (talk) 07:46, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want to decide who is wrong or right or which map is correct, but I guess everyone, who's not totally ignorant, could admit, that there are many different views on this issue, by Pakistan, India, China, the UN, etc.. It's totally pointless to say "Kashmir is considered a sovereign part of ..." if you don't specify the (legal?) framework that this opinion is based on. And then there will always be the discrepancy between de-jure opinion (in what legal framework?) and the de-facto situation on the ground. Any map will fail to depict every minutia. As a map maker, I don't want to take a stand here; I'll created various maps that show the region from every (?) angle. However, this very map represents claims by Pakistan, presumably made on basis of Pakistan's legal point of view, while not omitting the disputed borders in that region. Thus the unequivocal filename. So plz see whether one of the maps in Category:SVG locator maps of Pakistan (location map scheme) suits your belief better. Then try to convince the contributors in Wikipedia (this ain't wikipedia) to display whatever map you prefer. Or feel free to draw your own map. --TUBS 08:15, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
