Mariana Islands

[edit]

The blue oval around Guam should not include Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. These latter three islands were Japanese controled at this time. See the Wikipedia article on the Mariana Islands. I'm not set up to edit this kind of image file myself. --192.4.227.200 18:05, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Macao

[edit]

If somebody corrects the Marianas, you might want to add Macao, too. As it is now, Hong Kong is shown but Macao is not. On another note, what are the brackets around “Sea of Japan” for? Dustsucker (talk) 2008-09-21

Samoa

[edit]

This map inaccurately portrays Western Samoa as being under the jurisdiction of the US. It was a New Zealand protectorate from August 1914 through to the end of 1961. --Korakys (talk) 09:40, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Date of possession + NZ dependencies

[edit]

Hello, I have noticed several errors on this map, especially in Polynesia. I am currently adding the forgotten territories (e.g. Wallis and Futuna, Tonga, Tokelau, Niue to name a few), however I would like to know what "gain control of their possessions" means (for the date) : the year of protectorate (sometimes more theoretical than efective) or the year of annexation ?

Also, New Zealand possessions should be clearly marked on this map. They include :

  • Western Samoa (former German colony) (1914-1962)
  • Niue (annexed in 1901, autonomy from NZ in 1974)
  • Tokelau (British annexation in 1916, administered by NZ from 1926 on, but a British possession until 1948)
  • Cook Islands (British protectorate in 1888, British annexation in 1900, included in NZ in 1901)

Thanks ! Skimel (talk) 23:01, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

French Polynesia

[edit]

I also noticed that the French posessions in Polynesia (EPO, établissements français d'Océanie) were missing. I'm working on it. (Tahiti, etc.) Skimel (talk) 13:23, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

sinkiang

[edit]

sinkiang was independent, a communist state/soviet satellite *de facto*, so i think it should be added back in. WikipedianoNormal (talk) 16:34, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
