  • I have requested this for rotation because it makes more sense in article space when it is horizontal. The original journal version worked for journals with vertical pages that could be physically turned, but not really on the web. FunkMonk (talk) 12:12, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
See this, Ineuw? FunkMonk (talk) 15:45, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@FunkMonk: , to be honest, I am speechless about your justification of your action. After the junk I saw uploaded to the Commons and slipped by your ever watchful eyes, I feel that flipping pictures for your edification is wasted nonsense.
According to your rules, every Latin cross displayed should be flipped sideways to save space. (But, I am willing to bet that you would not dare to flip crosses sideways.)
Another valid example would be the Eiffel tower to be flipped on it's side.
We, at Wikisource try to reproduce the material as close as it is possible to the original.
The image should be displayed in the exact way [as much as it is possible] to match the original.
I am also well aware of the rule when to rotate, and this image does not meet any criteria for rotation. I have uploaded hundreds of images where rotation for display was necessary, and I also uploaded thousands of long narrow images. would you flip these as well?
Here are some randomly select examples of both:

I'm not sure what "junk" you're referring to; I, or no one for that matter, do not monitor every single upload made here very day, it is physically impossible. But I'm happy you finally care to even reply to my message, here three years after. Anyhow, seems I'll just upload the correctly flipped version as a new file if it is to be usable anywhere outside Wikisource. FunkMonk (talk) 12:58, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@FunkMonk: , Thanks for changing back the image and understanding our efforts in efforts to reproduce original material. The "junk" I am referring to, are uploads of selfies (and numerous copies of the same person or persons) placed in some obscure category. I come across them occasionally, and frankly don't know what to do about them. I assume that the three years you mention is in reference to my noticing the change. That is because the project is incomplete, I am going through the pages, correcting minor textual errors and replacing images that can be reproduced better. There are over 10,000 images in the project. — Ineuw talk 17:12, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
