Looks to me like a buggy, not a barouche, which is driven by a coachman. It further features two seat benches for passengers, facing each other. Barouches also have their passenger compartments hinged on leather straps.--Chief tin cloud (talk) 11:23, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Further research showed that the designation barouche was used in Quebec for a special carriage, which was "two wheeled, with one forward-facing seat, and a driver's seat on the splashboard."
