This plant is certainly not Carduus nutans, which should have very different involucral bracts, which are much wider at the base than at the apex. The plant looks like Carduus acanthoides from Germany and I could not find any Carduus species in the "Flora Europaea" that was reported from the area and looks sufficiently similar to qualifiy as a lookalike. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 21:08, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
