The specimen has the typical appearance of Natrix tessellata, especially in the area of the head. For example, note that the nostrils point upwards. Incidentally, the status of Natrix megalocephala as a species is controversial and is not even recognized by many authors. (So it would be just a variant and a synonym of Natrix natrix.) Other users seem to agree with my species identification (see below). The file should be categorized (and renamed) as Natrix tessellata and deleted from all articles dealing with "Natrix megalocephala". -- Fice (talk) 09:41, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
