Flag needs improvement

[edit]

Hi @Samhanin: .

A history record about the First Anglo-Burmese War mentions that on 10th waxing day of Nattaw of 1188 ME, the English flag in Yangon was lowered and replaced by the Burmese flag which is ""white cloth, length of nine taung, width of six taung, inserted red at the centre, figure of peacock biting a flower branch, finial made of gold"

. The record also mentioned that "placed as the same as it was placed before".

Most Burmese books illustrate and describe the flag as the following: the peacock as a whole is green and biting small green flower branch. [1] [2]

More possible design is with a different peacock design. [3] [4] I can say it may be the earlier version because of the arts from early Konbaung period. [5]

Request I would like to request your help as I cannot do svg things.

Again as I mentioned to @Samhanin: in undoing some of his edits, we should update the Existing file so that all konbaung flags in all wikipedia get updated. I spent some time editing a bunch of random pages and it'd be great if we use one filename. The main thing missing from this drawing is the flower branch. The actual detail of the peacock isn't something we can know but it seems like the wings should be outstretched unlike in the seal. Overall, the existing flag is a better fit but we can definitely move towards a less modern-stylizaton.
As for the different peacock (facing sideways) that seems to be a different flag from early Konbaung rather than the flags used by the time of the Anglo-Burmese wars. EmeraldRange (talk) 13:59, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
