This photograph was taken by the Iraqi photographer, Murad al-Daghistani (or Daghestani) (1917-1982) who worked in Mosul and Baghdad from the 1930s. He photographed the boats and fishing along the Tigris, and this image is one of his most well-known and widely reproduced.
