Removal of camera case reverted
[edit]I've reverted the removal by Abalg of the camera case on top of the fortress. This is for two main reasons. The first is that the case is mentioned in the file description, so its removal isn't a minor change to the picture as required by Commons:Overwriting files. The second is that Geograph has a rule against this kind of digital editing, and it seems wrong to me to replace a picture from Geograph with one that wouldn't be allowed on Geograph. @Abalg: If you want to use your modified version of the picture, please upload it under a different name. --bjh21 (talk) 12:56, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- bjh21, Ok, I will update it in a new file. But I have a question: if Geograph refuses modifications to their files, the license should be CC-by-sa-ND to prohibit derivative works. ----Abalg (talk) 13:06, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Abalg: It's not that Geograph prohibits editing of pictures from Geograph; it's that the edited picture would not have been allowed on Geograph. So part of what being a Geograph image means is that it hasn't been retouched. So I feel that having a retouched image named as though it had come directly from Geograph is a kind of misrepresentation. It's not a very logical argument, I'm afraid, which is why I led with the stronger one. --bjh21 (talk) 13:55, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- bjh21, Thank you for the explanations. ----Abalg (talk) 14:02, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
