The Mississippi River does not drain the Red River, Quachita, nor the Atchafalaya. The Red River runs into the Atchafalaya and the Quachita drains into the Red. The Army Corp of Engineers set up looks and hydro plant that send water from the Mississippi River into the Atachafalaya.
