This is not a replica of the old courthouse the original courthouse in Mississippi City was a two-story, five-bay-wide (w-w-d-w-w), hip roof Greek Revival building with full-high pilasters. The entry was accentuated by a transom and sidelights. The courthouse may have been altered over the years to have a similar appearance to this structure, but when it was constructed it was as described as above. For reference please see the postcard on the Wikipedia Mississippi City web page or other photographs in the Gulfport Diamond Jubilee Photo Album: WGCM Radio and Business Partners. Gulfport, Mississippi 1898-1973. 1973. Print
