I question the copyright status of this image. This is not a photograph of the Merseburg Incantations, and it has some obvious errors. This seems to be a digitally retouched version of the manuscript without clear attribution to who did the retouching. The most problematic error I noticed is that where frua or friia is mentioned the "manuscript" reads "rrua" which is not what any scholar or the photographs of the actual manuscript indicate. I believe this image should be deleted and replaced with the photograph of the manuscript. Due to the severity of its misrepresentation of the manuscript, apparent copyright violation or lack of release/attribution of who digitally retouched the photograph, and rather than nominate this for deletion due to how widely used this image is, I am considering uploading the color photograph version of the manuscript as a "new version" and applying the appropriate US copyright tag as well. If anyone then wants to try to correct the problem of duplicate images I will leave that up to them. In other words this is not a photograph or faithful representation of "Domstiftsbibliothek, Cod. 136, f. 85r" Obotlig (talk) 03:17, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
