Changes

[edit]

Here are the changes I have made:

1) In the maps, I have removed the current boundaries and replaced them with boundaries that showed how the world looked during each individual enlargement. This is done to show how the world changed along with NATO membership.

2) Sardinia, Sicily, and Corsica weren't colored in. They are now.

3) The maps had Cyprus colored with Turkey. This ether a simple mistake or POV pushing. In ether case, its removed. Hoshie 22:05, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Germany and the NATO

[edit]

Hello, please correct the Year of the Entrance from Germany into the NATO. It was 1955 not 1954. Thank you. -- JCIV (talk) 17:35, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The current image biais

[edit]

The current version of the GIF has a subtle added non-neutral change in the last frames, for when Finland joins NATO, Palestine stops existing as it did before. Can someone please change this? 166.62.226.9 01:26, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone add Sweden to the gif?

[edit]

Or should it be author of file? How the changes verification process work?

Sweden would get added after it officially joins, which it hasn't yet. Hungary's president signed the law today, and then it gets deposited with the U.S. State Dept, and then there is a ceremony at the NATO HQ. I tend to suspect it'll be on 4 April, for NATO's 75th birthday. In the meantime, I've prepped updates of both the static version and totally new animated version here, and would love some feedback on the colors/details: https://imgur.com/a/TvPhqgQ -- Patrick Neil, oѺ/Talk 14:07, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is time now. - Tournesol (talk) 16:37, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it was all made official this morning. I did, however, spend a good bit of time this last week building a replacement GIF, which is now up at File:History of NATO enlargement animation.gif. I've even added Template:Superseded here to suggest using my new one in place of this GIF. -- Patrick Neil, oѺ/Talk 16:52, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Patrickneil: please could you still update this map with Sweden? It's a historic enlargement, since all five Scandinavian countries are NATO members now. Sweden's join is as historic as Finland's join (Denmark, Iceland and Norway were founding members in 1949). This would be very nice. Groete. --  SpesBona 22:27, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please add the new 32nd member Sweden to this animated GIF map which shows all the members of NATO in both Europe and North America. Please! Gronkille (talk) 19:33, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1962

[edit]

Perhaps 1962, when Algeria became independent from France, should be marked by it's own animation frame too? As the animation is now it looks like this happened in 1982 because it's in the same frame as Spain is included. Jut a suggestion.1000mm (talk) 13:50, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
