Actually these are not a wire tensioners, but wire pulling levers (and, additional, wire travel reduction levers). This is a specialty of old "Austrian" (i.e., as used in the Austria-Hungarian monarchy) signals: (Only) in case of a broken wire, the weights ensure that the emergency release lets the signal arms fall to stop. --Haraldmmueller (talk) 10:12, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
