Shouldn’t an orthographic projection be better?

[edit]

I think the great distortions of Mercator projection should be replaced by a more realistic map. Here’s a rough version of my proposal:

Any suggestions and colaboration on the issue would be welcome.--MaGioZal (talk) 04:31, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Mercator projection should not be used, due to the greatly disproportionate sizes of Alaska and Greenland (not even able to show all of Greenland), but your disk map shows too much irrelevant territory, and has no consistent North orientation. Probably a map projection similar to Image:Continentes.png woulds be better... AnonMoos (talk) 08:29, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disproportionately lines

[edit]

I think that this map has a disproportionate distortion of state borders in comparison with the outline of the mainland. The outline of the mainland is drawn more accurately. Compare the northern fjords with the state borders of Europe. --Korytaacheck (talk) 12:06, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
