Date?

[edit]

This is ambiguously labeled "Line at the opening of first Apple Store in America" and its date (both here and on Flickr) is , but it seems to be the Flickr upload date, and there is no EXIF data. However, someone has inserted it into en:Apple Store with the caption "A line at the opening of the first Apple Store, in Tysons Corner Center on May 19, 2001." For dating: Photos from the same day have signs with the older Apple Garamond font instead of Myriad, and strangely colored iMacs. Tysons Corner is the first Apple Store, but is this photograph really of the first day at Tysons Corner in 2001, or is this just some busy product-release day between 2001 and when Apple changed their marketing font? --Closeapple (talk) 05:31, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since the photo is small-resolution and grainy, 2001 is a safe bet. The clothes worn by the people outside sure do look like 2001 fashion as well. This source says it opened on May 19, 2001 as well. Illegitimate Barrister 05:36, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is an Internet Explorer icon visible in the left store window. Safari was released January 2003 and by the end of the year had displaced Internet Explorer (source). I'm pretty sure this picture is from opening day for this store. Mike Richardson (talk) 21:39, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
