This is an inaccurate version copied from an original like this one: http://www.aps.org/publications/apsnews/200306/ligo.cfm The beam-splitter should be drawn at 45 degrees!

Indeed a terrible copy of a very old file, the beam should reflect off the front of the beam-splitter, but instead it appears from behind.
