OCEAN-CHART by Henry Holiday?

[edit]

There is no evidence that the OCEAN-CHART is made by Henry Holiday. The title page in "The Hunting of the Snark" says explicitely": "with nine illustrations by Henry Holiday". But there are ten illustrations in the book. Nine of them clearly show Holiday's style and had been engraved by Joseph Swain. The OCEAN-CHART, however, has been made using typesetting. So the one illustration which is not made by Henry Holiday could very well be the OCEAN-CHART. Of course there are many writers who associate the Bellman's map with Henry Holiday. The publisher doesn't, and just stating that "fact" three times (or more) doesn't mean that this is true (unless you are a Bellman). --DL5MDA (talk) 04:42, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
