Identification

[edit]

@Rudolphous: This is not a Rhodocybe, which would have whitish gills or perhaps pinkish if old. This is a Lepista, probably Lepista nuda. I do think that these "Dr Mary Gillham" photos are very unreliably identified. I don't think it is possible to rely on the given identification at all and there are others which I think are wrong, but which I have not queried as it is difficult to prove anything. It is a pity. @Strobilomyces: Agree about Lepista nuda. It's a pity that the identifications of Dr Mary Gillham project are not very reliable :-(. Not sure what to do now, add a category unchecked identification and go through them again? Think there are in total 500 fungi files. Rudolphous (talk) 19:22, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Added Category:Unchecked fungi identifications of Dr Mary Gillham Archive Project with 372 files currently. I will try to go through them and remove this category when checked. Rudolphous (talk) 19:39, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will try to look at them sometime (not this evening, I'm afraid). I think it is much better to give a very vague category than to be inaccurate. Strobilomyces (talk) 20:52, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
