Idaho

[edit]

This map has had Idaho colored green for some time due to this news story: https://www.localnews8.com/news/gender-neutral-ids-available-to-idahoans/1062491505 (link no longer works, at least for me). I cannot find other evidence that Idaho legally recognizes non-binary gender; others who track this, like the LGBT Movement Advancement Project [1], say that they do not. @Jedi Friend: since you added Idaho, do you agree or disagree with undoing that change? According to an article published by the the Idaho State Bar in 2022 (3 years later than the localnews8 story), "There is currently no process in Idaho to amend one's identity documents to reflect anything other than male or female."[2] Also, the official form for amending your Idaho birth certificate only offers the options "Male" and "Female".[3] However, it is apparently possible to set the sex to "Unknown" when creating a new birth certificate in Idaho. This is probably what spawned the misleading localnews8 story. So basically, it was just fake clickbait. Nosferattus (talk) 23:19, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
