Muonio isn't part of the historical Lapland

[edit]

The map is incorrect for the part of the border between historical Lapland and West Bothnia / Västerbotten / Länsipohja. The municipality of Muonio belonged historically to West Bothnia / Västerbotten / Länsipohja, and after 1809 many times was considered part of East Bothnia / Pohjanmaa / Österbotten. Only in the 20th century it was moved to the region of Lapland. the difference can be seen from this other map published in Wikipedia https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suomen_historialliset_maakunnat#/media/Tiedosto%3AFinlands_landskap_och_st%C3%A4der_1920-talet.jpg and from this map published in 1937. http://www.dlc.fi/~etkirja/maakunnat.jpg The confusion is probably caused by the fact, that Muonio was transferred to the Region of Lapland earler in the 20th century, and Peräpohjola (southern parts of the Province of Lapland) in 1997. --176.93.37.35 11:16, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
