The "Kneeling Lady" was introduced in the 1930s as a companion to the "Spirit of Ecstasy" mascot, with the intention to improve visibility from inside. Front windows became narrower, then, and RR coachbuilders had to follow the trend.--Chief tin cloud (talk) 12:19, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
