Can this photo be edited?

This image showing clinodactyly of the fifth digit (little finger) is uderexposed in the region of the fifth digit, making the point of the photo somewhat obscure. If a "shadows and highlights" adjustment can be made to it in order to bring out the fifth digit (nearly invisible on my monitor, which cannot be adjusted), this photo would be of more use to more people.
