Cropping the left black side of the picture

[edit]

User:Geagea, since there was no explanation to your move of reverting my edit, can you explain? Why do we need the left side of the picture, showing nothing but a black stripe? Ldorfman (talk) 16:26, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with you. Please respect other users preference. Please read COM:CROP. It is an official guideline of Commons. Try to avoid overwrite other people work. You can always upload a new file and sugest you version in other wiki projects. -- Geagea (talk) 16:33, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Read the guidelines. How is it relevant here? What do we have to do with just a black line, that makes the picture itself appear smaller when showed in the page where it's embedded in? Can you please explain? Ldorfman (talk) 06:58, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh... just found out that there is actually a cropped version of the file already. I don't understand the need for the duplication, but we'll use the other one. Have a nice day (if it fits you, I'm still interested in reading the explanation). Ldorfman (talk) 07:04, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's not very hard to understand. Try to upload your version in a new file and suggest the new version to he.wiki (or other wiki) to concideration of other users as well. That respects other wiki users opinion as well. Also thet's why we changed the default in crop tool to uploading in a new file. If you read properly the instructions when you changing to overwrite, you will see that line: Before overwriting, make sure you are familiar with COM:CROP.
This file is a source file and there are also derivative/croped version. You may crop an new version if you wish, as many you need. -- Geagea (talk) 07:33, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
