Why is one first name listed as -------?

The linked source, a caption appearing with the photograph in International Photographer, shows a long, long dash appearing before the surname McAlley. The file description is transcribed from that. There is no McAlley listed in the index of Mack Sennett's Fun Factory, which reprinted the photo and was used to identify the film and correct the spelling of a few surnames. — WFinch (talk) 23:04, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
