Nominated for deletion

[edit]

The image was nominated for deletion in January 2021 as a copyright violation. After three months the only support to delete the image was from the nominator. The lack of support to delete after three months means the nomination was not supported and I believe my non-admin closure was not controversial as there was no consensus to delete. See the discussion at Commons:Village pump/Copyright#Closure of deletion requests by non-admins. Verbcatcher (talk) 20:19, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dreamspy: Commons works a little differently than perhaps some other WMF projects because of COM:PCP. In fact, COM:DR#Overview states as follows:

The debates are not votes, and the closing admin will apply copyright law and Commons policy to the best of his or her ability in determining whether the file should be deleted or kept. Any expressed consensus will be taken into account so far as possible, but consensus can never trump copyright law nor can it override Commons Policy. If the closing admin is unable to say with reasonable certainty that the file can validly be kept, it should be deleted in accordance with Commons' precautionary principle.

Moreover, the fact that someone else besides the editor who nominated the file also !voted "delete" and the fact that you yourself !voted "keep" means that (1) things might not be as clear as you're making them out to be and (2) you shouldn't be trying to close the DR because you're involved. It's best (as I posted at the VPC discussion linked to above) to let an uninvolved administrator close this discussion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:30, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
