Actually this is an R stock train - identifiable by the style of the fluorescent lighting. Most R stock trains were formed of converted pre-war Q38 trailers which were built with possible conversion in mind. However some were built as new.

The R stock primarily worked on the District Line.

The A stock only worked on the Metropolitan Line and were actually banned from some other subsurface routes because they were too wide.
