"Surplus" metric
I have looked at the source, and it does not appear to me that "surplus" is a metric published by the source. I am *guessing* the author generated this value based on the difference between male and female population number, and marked the diff as "surplus".
This metric appears to suggest a 1-to-1 coupling between male and female being the norm, or heterosexual relationship being expected in the society. This does not seem correct or inclusive (e.g., does not account for same sex couples), what are your thoughts?
