Identification

[edit]

@Amada44, Thiotrix, and Rudolphous: Hello. I don't think that this mushroom can be Armillaria mellea, for the following reasons, for instance.

  1. The cap is viscid.
  2. There are scales on the stipe.
  3. The usual scales on the cap are missing.
  4. It is solitary.

I think it might be something along the lines of a Pholiota. I plan to change the category to "Unidentified Agaricales" if there is no comment. Strobilomyces (talk) 12:59, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This indeed does not look at all like a honey mushroom (Armillaria mellea). Proposal looks fine by me. Rudolphous (talk) 20:05, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On Flickr, Jason Holinger said "Maybe not Pholiota, either, as it had a creamy spore print, not brown. I agree with your comments about the slime and solitary habit, though."
Sorry, I don't know what it is. It may be something which doesn't grow in Europe, in which case I wouldn't know it. I have made the change. Strobilomyces (talk) 19:42, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
