This is an interwar photograph. If it is HMS Valiant, it is before her modernisation in the 1930s, as the forecastle was modified after the removal of the secondary 6-inch battery. The nearer turret shows an aircraft 'flying off platform which were phased out well before WWII; the gun barrels have a polished muzzle ring, this would be painted over in wartime.
