Capacity of this barge?

Standard intermodal shipping containers are 40 feet long. It tooks like this barge is about 50 meters long.

The locks at the three gorges dam are about half the depth of those on the St Lawrence Seaway at 280 m long, 35 m wide, and 5 m deep. It looks like the containers on this barge are designed to stack three containers tall. I think if the barge was intended to hold stacks four containers tall the bridge and aftercastle would also be that tall. Presumably this container barge was intended to travel under relatively low bridges, and fit in shorter locks than those at the three gorges dam. Geo Swan (talk) 17:38, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
