Fake/trace

[edit]

This is not a real image of a GAR badge, but rather a vector-drawn American flag ribbon with a vector-traced eagle and star added on top. This is inferior to an actual high-resolution image of a GAR badge for several reasons:

  1. It is a digital reconstruction, and thus has less historical value than an image of an actual badge
  2. As an SVG it gives the impression that it can be arbitrarily scaled, when in fact large scales reveal the ugly artifacts due to the automatic vector tracing. This defeats the entire point of an SVG
  3. Even at its nominal size, the vector trace causes visible color banding. A normal photograph would actually provide better detail at the same resolution.

If the original creator of this image has access to an actual GAR badge, I urge you to upload a real image in its place. Silverhammermba (talk) 01:01, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
