File name

[edit]
Ginkgoites huttoni from the Middle Jurassic of Scaly Ness near Scarborough, England”
Ginkgo huttonii from the Middle Jurassic of England”

The current file name says that the fossil Ginkgo leaves are from the “Carboniferous coal shales” of Sacrborough in North Yorkshire. In the Scarborough, North Yorkshire, area, in the so-called Cleveland Basin, however, no Carboniferous strata but only Lower Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous strata are cropping out [1]. Also, the “style” of preservation and the host rock – which is clearly a sandstone – appear very similar to those in Ginkgo fossils which are said to come from Middle Jurassic strata of the Scarborough area or at least of England (see adjacent images). Additionally, Ginkgoales are not typical representatives of the Paleozoic but of the Mesozoic and especially of the Jurassic. Hence, I have moved the file overleaf to a different page bearing an appropriate file name. --Gretarsson (talk) 00:26, 19 February 2019 (UTC); subsequently modified 12:50, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
