Provenance

[edit]

What is the provenance of this plate and where did it come from when it is obviously a fake. Your comments would be of interest....Peter Jones

What makes it so 'obviously' a fake? As the decription says: it was photographed in the railway museum at Buckfastleigh railway station so perhaps they could tell you where it came from? Geof Sheppard (talk) 08:23, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No.3338 Laira had standard combined name and numberplates with standard G.W.R. style numerals in the middle and the name in plain letters, quite unlike the plate on display. The original plates wouldn't exist anyway as the number would have been altered to 3326in 1912. So where did the plate on display at Buckfastleigh come from?.....Peter Jones (p.k.jones@hotmail.co.uk)
