  • I hadn't commented on it before so as not to destroy the surprise, but in all this time that I wasn't answering messages I accepted the challenge of creating the flag with the 1692 year. Hope you all like it. Yarfpr (talk) 02:17, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Yarfpr: It seems better but the quality of the Lion and the bridge is still low looking imo. --Cookieman1.1.1 (talk) 22:57, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cookieman1.1.1: Yeah. That's because I took a picture of a flag in my house and then edited with the live trace on Ai. For me it's hard to deal with those excessive details in the lion, but I think that's better than another non-Ponceño lion. When I have more time, I'll try to fix it. Thanks for your comments. @Cookieman1.1.1: I see you guys are involved in improving numerous other municipal COAs and flags. I appreciate your comment above ("It seems better but the quality of the Lion and the bridge is still low looking imo") but a lion --unlike the simple geometric images of rivers, mountains, and the like, found in other municipal flags-- can be open to personal interpretation, specially if one starts checking out whether or not there are 1003 different lines on the lion's mane or there 1008 of them. (I am not making fun of either of you two very intelligent people, just trying to make a point.) There are 78x2=156 images of COAs and flags (a little less, it seems, considering some of them are apparently not going to be replaced becuase the ones already there are being deemed fine), and imo you guys should feel free to work on the remaining images and leave the Ponce 1692 flag as is (or as something to come back once all other required images have been done, voted on and uploaded). You had also stated above that the lion (and, thus, the flag) was "a little out of my range of skills." So, again, I think we should all accept the current version of Yarfpr's flag and just work on the other ones. If there are improvements that need to be made, as per Commons policy, such improvements should be made by the author of the image (Yarfpr in this case) before a new image is uploaded as a replacement by another editor. Thanks for your other edits, you are obviously a very talented editor too. However, imo, an open approval COA/flag process, where editors can voice their opinions and give an up/down vote, would help the Project in the long run. In fact, I always thought that was the purpose of the table at Standards/ Symbols. Don't you think? Mercy11 (talk) 19:28, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep @Yarfpr: I like it! As you might have noticed, the bulk of articles I edit are about Ponce. So I already knew the Ponce flag quite well. And I can tell you, I love the 1692 flag of Ponce you created/uploaded. As far as I am concerned, it looks beautiful and I find it to be (in particular the lion) an exact and faithful representation of the actual 1692 flag, as I have ordinarily seen it in pictures, videos, and on Ponce City Hall official documents (the lion over the bridge is part of the Ponce Municipal Seal also). I also compared it against a 1692 flag of Ponce I had at home and it looks identical. I would vote that it be kept and used in all WP articles based on its accurate similarity as well as the fact that the 1877 represents the city, not the municipality. Thank you for this valuable contribution! (and also because my graphics skills are limited and that flag is not something I could had tackled)! Mercy11 (talk) 19:28, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep @Yarfpr: I agree with Mercy, it is good and should stay and even be used. Now the hard task is making the coat of arms into an SVG and if possible i would love for you to make the Lion for me and we could both work on the Coat of arms together. Of course you don't have to, its just an idea. Thanks for making this! --Cookieman1.1.1 (talk) 17:30, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cookieman1.1.1: Your idea seems great to me! I'll take it into consideration later because there are many things to correct first. Thanks! Yarfpr (talk) 19:38, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
