Blue

[edit]

As per photographic evidence the proposed blue is to dark Jetijones (talk) 21:22, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are pics that show it lighter, there are ones that show it darker. In a case where it varies like that, it's best to make it match the national flag, which several pics also do. Fry1989 (talk) 02:47, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please show some pics of darker roundels on their military aircraft - And we're not about the colors of the national flag Jetijones (talk) 04:54, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here you go: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and there's more. This isn't about the flag, it's about the roundel that 'matches the flag. Fry1989 (talk) 05:05, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You brought the issue of flag color, but the roundel dose not necessarily has to match. I have to contest I see the "Blue" as jst a few shades darker than it should be, as seen in these pics 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Even the picture you posted of the Pilatus PC-12 shows the roundel as a medium blue. Regarding the colors of the flag that’s even hard to nail down, as seen here they appear off blue 1, 2, 3, 4. And as for the argument of different shaded roundels from a particular air force, I never heard of such a thing. (unless you talk'n high vis vs low vis) Jetijones (talk) 17:50, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Stop overwriting with different files!
  • Find a consensus. This is a widely used image. There are certainly users in some of the wikipedias who are able to help.
  • If you do not find a consensus: upload a different file with a different name.

The pics clearly show that some are light blue, while some are a darker blue. Because of the variation, the roundel should match the national flag,, which it is based off of. There are examples where roundels don't match, such as Ireland's(where the fin flash of the flag is different rom the roundel itself) and France's(where it's clearly darker), but in this case, the Finnish roundel should match the Finnish flag, which colours we do have right, whether you think so or not. That's my argument and I'm sticking to it. Fry1989 (talk) 20:17, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Jetijones, why don't you upload your lighter version under a different filename, instead of trying to overwrite this version? Certainly Commons has place for both versions of the roundel.-- Darwin Ahoy! 21:10, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Having been asked to take a look at the mess, my opinion is not so much that the roundel should match the color of the flag, but rather that it should match what the Finns officially think it should look like. Which, based on all the photos and my past experience reading about the subject, would suggest that this is closest to what the standard is supposed to be. But as noted above, since both are, more or less, in use, having them both should be the answer, with them noted as "variable between" X and Y. - The Bushranger (talk) 23:14, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
